Fork in the Road

Updated: Oct 26, 2023

By the time I learned about the Soy being in the meats that we all consume (beef, chicken, turkey, pork), I had already lost an extreme amount of weight. This moment put me in a spiral, it was a fork in the road. I literally became terrified to eat, and I also didn't even know how or where to get the protein that was safe for me to consume. If I ate anything at all, it was at night to avoid ruining my family's days more than I had already done so the months prior. I was literally withering away, and I didn't even realize it.

Grocery shopping became a trigger point for me, most of the time I left in tears and empty-handed due to the overwhelming number of products and crap on the nutrition labels. I will provide a list of examples of how they hide things like soy in our foods.

Just like us, you may be wondering how Soy gets into the animal protein. It is based on the animal's diet. If they are fed a "Vegetarian Diet" this almost always means soy, very rarely it means corn. This is when we learned I needed to switch to 100% Grass-fed and finished or corn-finished beef, free-range chicken, and everything else. Finding the beef wasn't too hard because I knew Whole Foods carried it but the chicken, turkey, and pork, those were the hard ones! A friend of mine told me about a local farm that raises free range chicken, pork, turkey, and cows. Before making the trip out there I gave them a call and from the first phone conversation I knew this farm was the perfect fit for me. He was so kind, answered all my questions, and knew every single detail about everything from the feed to the processing center. I will be doing a spotlight on them soon!!

Knowing your farmer is something special!
