There are so many benefits to Ginger and Turmeric. In the midst of all of the discomfort I was having during the bacterial infections and afterward, when I was learning how to eat with all of my newfound allergies, I discovered this. I was so tired of taking pain meds to help ease my discomfort, so Ryan began to buy me Kombucha from the store, which is pretty pricey if you have never purchased it. So, I started trying to find ways to make my own.
The benefits of Ginger and Turmeric are insane, from digestive benefits to helping blood pressure, and inflammation, it can improve brain function (I'm still waiting to experience that benefit HA), cholesterol, healthy skin, healthy eyes, blood sugar, etc. So whether you have any issues or not this drink is pure beneficial.
Before I discovered this recipe that I am about to share, I was boiling everything, and WHAT A MESS!! If you have never worked with turmeric before it will turn EVERYTHING yellow so be cautious when using it!! This is very potent, so I add a little carbonated water to help it go down. For me I just chug it rather than sip it but man oh man does it work.
The little clear glass bottles I use, that are shown in the picture, are from Amazon. Here is the link
Lemon Ginger Turmeric Drink
2-3 large organic ginger (scrub/peel skin)
2-3 large lemons
2 small oranges
1 TBSP honey
2 tsp turmeric
Scrub the ginger and blend (I used my Nutribullet) with 2 cups of water.
Strain the ginger to remove the pulp.
In a blender, add peeled lemons and oranges and strain the pulp.
Pour in ginger juice with lemon and orange juice, add honey & turmeric, and blend all together until well combined.
Store in fridge for up to a week.
I keep mine in those cute bottles in the picture above. You can find them here.
*if you like spice you can add 1/2 tsp pepper and 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper.
